As long as the outflow of skilled workers from Poland remains unchecked, and there are not enough well-paid jobs in Poland to attract employees from other countries, there will continue to exist an asymmetry between Germany and Poland with regard to the free movement of workers. Poles constitute the largest group of EU immigrants in Germany, and the second largest group overall (behind the more than 1.5 million Turks). German nationals also make up the largest group of people from an EU country settling in Poland. Nevertheless, there is a large difference. There are currently about 24,000 German citizens living in Poland (Łada, 2017: 7). Given the figure of 700,000 Polish citizens living in Germany, the asymmetry in respect of the movement of workers between the two countries is enormous.
